A comprehensive guide to facial oil

Facial oil has become a favorite in many skincare routines, including my own. This little miracle product can truly work wonders for the skin. But what is it that makes facial oils so special? Here, I will discuss different types of facial oils, their uses, and how they have been utilized throughout history, as well as two of my absolute favorites – CBD and CBG oil.

What is facial oil?

Facial oil is a concentrated skincare product designed to nourish and hydrate the skin. When I first started using facial oil, I was surprised at how quickly it absorbed and how soft my skin felt afterward. These oils are packed with essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants that enhance the skin's texture and appearance.

Different types of facial oil

There are a variety of facial oils to choose from, each with its own unique benefits. For example, when I discovered jojoba oil, I was impressed by how light it felt on the skin and how well it worked for my oily complexion. Jojoba oil resembles the skin's natural sebum and does not clog pores. Argan oil, on the other hand, is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, making it perfect for combating dry skin and aging.

I have also tried rose oil, known for its regenerative properties, which helps reduce scarring and fine lines. It is fantastic for mature and sensitive skin. Almond oil, which I often use when my skin is irritated, is moisturizing and nourishing, effectively soothing the skin. For inflamed and sensitive skin, hemp seed oil has been a lifesaver. It is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that hydrate and balance the skin.

Another favorite is marula oil, a light yet powerful moisturizer rich in antioxidants. It is suitable for all skin types and reduces redness while improving skin elasticity.

But let me not forget the latest additions to my routine: CBD and CBG oil. These oils have quickly become my absolute favorites. CBD oil is fantastic because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It helps calm the skin, reduce redness, and improve overall skin health. For me, it has been excellent during periods when my skin has been out of balance.

CBG oil is another star, especially for its ability to support the skin's microbial diversity. Its powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties make it ideal for those with inflammatory skin conditions. I have noticed my skin looking more balanced and healthy since I started using these oils.

Uses for facial oil

Facial oil can be used in various ways depending on your needs. For me, oils have been indispensable as moisturizers, especially during the cold winter months when my skin tends to become extra dry. I have also found that certain oils work exceptionally well for anti-aging, thanks to their content of antioxidants and vitamins that combat fine lines and wrinkles.

When it comes to inflammatory skin conditions, I have found that certain facial oils with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties can really make a difference. CBD and CBG oils have proven particularly effective here. Additionally, these oils create a protective barrier on the skin that helps shield against environmental pollutants and other harmful factors.

Historical use of facial oils

The use of oils for skincare is not a new concept. In ancient Egypt, both men and women used oils like almond and moringa oil to protect and care for their skin in the dry climate. I am fascinated by how the Greeks and Romans used olive oil for both cleansing and moisturizing, something that feels so modern despite being an ancient practice. In Ayurvedic tradition, oils like sesame oil have been used for thousands of years for their healing properties and to balance the body's doshas, highlighting the deep connection between skincare and health.

Facial oils offer numerous benefits for skin health and beauty, from providing hydration and nourishment to combating signs of aging and treating specific skin issues. By understanding the different types of facial oils and their unique properties, you can find the one that best suits your skin type and needs. Historically, oils have played a significant role in skincare traditions around the world, and their continued popularity underscores their effectiveness and versatility in caring for and enhancing skin health. Of all the oils I have tried, CBD and CBG oils stand out as the most effective and versatile, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to improve their skincare routine.

However, do not forget that our skin is not built for any form of skincare. In the best of worlds, we would not need any skincare products at all. If we live as the skin is evolutionarily designed to live, it will take care of itself.

But since very few people want and/or can return to a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, facial oils (especially CBD and CBG) are the next best alternative.
