CBD
The incredible
Three key features:
1. Stabilizes the skin's oil production
2. Reduces inflammation
3. Moisturizes dry skin
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound extracted from the plant – Cannabis Sativa. CBD has no intoxicating effects, meaning it cannot make you "high."
CBD, along with other cannabinoids, has been used as a health supplement for more than 5000 years. It has a direct effect on the skin's endocannabinoid system (ECS), which controls all functions of your skin. A balanced ECS is crucial for achieving optimal skin health.
CBD is an incredibly effective ingredient in skincare due to its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. While research on CBD continues, we already have the following evidence supporting this knowledge. Here, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of CBD are described in relation to how they affect the body’s largest organ.
1. Regulates sebum production. An overproduction of sebum is considered a contributing factor to the development of acne. A study from 2014 showed that CBD may have an anti-inflammatory effect on sebocytes, the cells that produce sebum.
2. Anti-inflammatory. Through its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD can reduce redness and irritation.
3. Moisturizes dry skin. New research suggests that CBD is effective in moisturizing the skin.
The effect of CBD oil occurs when cannabidiol binds with receptors in the skin's endocannabinoid system – a complex biological network that regulates many of the most important functions and responses in our skin. The endocannabinoid system, in particular, plays a crucial role in managing inflammation.
The two dominant causes of aging skin and problematic skin are:
1. Damage from free radicals in the epidermis (the outermost skin layer).
2. The endocannabinoid system is a complex combination of cell receptors that manage several important functions in the skin, including sebum production and the function of melanocytes.
CBG
THE AMAZING
Three key features:
1. Antibacterial
2. Anti-inflammatory
3. Antioxidant
WHAT IS CBG?
Cannabigerol (CBG) has been called “the mother of all cannabinoids” because it is the first cannabinoid formed in the cannabis plant (including CBD).
Cannabigerol (CBG) has many beneficial functions for your skin. CBG is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant.
The natural occurrence of our endocannabinoid system (ECS) in the body is responsible for keeping it balanced. When it comes to your skin, the ECS helps maintain its health. CBG interacts with the endocannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2, which are present in the skin.
When CBG is applied to the skin (epidermis), it reduces the risk of inflammation, improves sebum production, and balances cell renewal.
Summary of CBG:
- Works together with the CB1 and CB2 receptors in our endocannabinoid system
- Penetrates the basal and subcutaneous layers
- Combats inflammation
- Helps with cell renewal and sebum production.
